aggression - Aggression between my boys Empty
PostSubject: Aggression between my boys   aggression - Aggression between my boys EmptySun Feb 24, 2013 3:26 pm

Ok here is a little background on my little pack. I have four huskies Jade Damien Kiowa and Storm. Kiowa and storm are puppies from jade and Damien. My big problem is that over the last few months Kiowa and Damien have been getting very aggressive and even fighting at times. This was mainly at feeding times with Damien going after Kiowa we separated them and put them in different corners this slowed it until a couple weeks ago when Damien went after Kiowa hard. I had to take Kiowa to the veterinarian to get wounds stapled. Then last week they went at it again with Kiowa having some pretty ugly wounds again. Damien just got fixed and Kiowa is to go mid-March when I have the extra money to do so if I cant make it work earlier. Is getting him fixed as well going to help with this or do I need to make the hard decision of which of my boys I might have to part with? Any advice would be great help.

I am pretty sure that the unneutered male is the problem. i would put them in seperate rooms at feeding time and not let them back together until after Damien calms down.

I have an issue with feeding time with my pack, I put them all in their crates when its feeding time and latch the gates on them.

Yep, mine eat in their crates. Well May doesn't have a crate anymore so she eats in the living room and Kody/Asia in their crates. I'm 90% sure that Kody/Asia would eat just fine together, but Mya ehhh.....nope! It would end up just like this!

If they're not neutered already, I'd do that. You'll eventually start to see more issues down the road.

I also feed mine in their crates, we've never had issues with them fighting during feedings, but sometimes one dog wouldn't eat, and the other two would eat his food so this solves every issue.

You should notice a difference after the neuter (give it a week or a couple to let the testosterone levels drop)...but I also fed in crates, now in the larger kennels as long as the bowls are picked up right away there isn't time to fight.
