Hello! I am a first-time husky owner from Arizona. We rescued Chevy from the county shelter about two months ago. She is my first husky and while we have had our bumps in the road, she has been a wonderful addition to our family. My fiance and I also have a pit bull, a tortisshell cat that I rescued and a horse that lives off site. While everyone gets along well at home, we're still working on getting used to the horse. Very Happy

We are also not sure if she is actually full husky or not. People have told us she is on the small side.

Welcome to the forum!

Ooh, that tail is sweet with the white tip. Looks like a Husky to me, the sizes seem to vary quite a bit. My guy is 70 pounds. I bet that horse issue is fun. We learned about elk yesterday.

Welcome! I tried to socialize Koda with horses last summer. That ended when the horse bit him on the nose. LOL!

She looks full husky to me Smile

Where in Arizona? I'll be headed down there at the end of the summer for school. Welcome!

We are in east Mesa just north of Gilbert. That's exactly why I'm here too, I'll be finishing my undergraduate degree at Arizona State University in the next year and I'm trying to decide if I want to go straight to grad school or try to find myself a job in my field.

Thanks for the compliments! The shelter is required to call all dogs a mix even if they are convincingly a single breed. They found her as a stray running around with a pit bull (not the one we have now) and she certainly has some stray characteristics but she's come very far.

I'm actually headed to ASU too, but it'll be my first year. Any advice for survival?

She is approximately 45 pounds. She was thinner when we got her but she's put on a little weight.

Advice...well definitely bring along lots of water! I also recommend packing as lightly as possible because the main campus is huge. Believe it or not, some of the buildings are absolutely freezing with the a/c cranked so I usually bring along a long sleeve shirt in case I start to freeze.

Sounds good. My brother actually started there this year so I've got some idea of what to expect. I'm lucky in that I won't be staying in the dorms at all, so I get to skip that experience...
