2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Blue should be fine, if the seizures persist you may want to consider raw and control exactly what goes in. In my research, the likely culprits of diet related seizures are preservatives.

Rusty sounds a lot like Halligan! He's such an instigator. He's SO rotten when Kane's outside and Halligan's inside by himself. When they're together, they play till they drop. Congrats on your new addition!! And thank you for adopting Smile

Congrats on your new pup. Denali has had siezures most of her life except for the past 4 years which she has been seizure free. She was on phenobarbital for along time and then went on potassium bromide which is much better for her since it doesn't cause liver damage. she has been seizure free she we changed her meds. you may wish to look into that if she has another seizure.

He's adorable Smile I want another husky, but I live in small appartment Sad Plus my mom would kill me (even though she's crazy about Ghost). So now I just keep telling myself that one day I'll have a decent house to have at least one more husky.

Pinch yourself to feel like any normal day Razz

Congrats on the new addition, the more I see these red’s the more I want one…

Don’t meant to hijack the thread, but would like to take the opt. to learn. How was the vet bill $1300? I understand emergency vets are costly, but if seizures can occur from food as I am reading, couldn’t a MRI be done and meds be prescribed (I imagine the MRI and meds cost less than $1300, then again not sure.)

Puppy- Bordetella Vac $16.88
Advantage- Puppy $12.00
Puppy- Microchip $0.00
Puppy- Recombitek DHPP Vac $16.88
Strongid T- Puppy $0.13
Phenobarb 1gr tab $0.15
Outsource Vet Charges $428.02 ( spca paid the emergency vet since the people couldn't pay him)
Vet Exam x4 $39.00 each total $156.00
Nursing/Day x 10 $23.00 each total $230.00
Idexx Lab Distemper PCR $72.00
Outsourced Vet Charges $427.84 (I'm pretty sure this is the neuter fee)

It comes to $1359.75 In CA it's the law that any animal that ends up at the SPCA for any reason is brought up to date on shots jic, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. I think the reason the neuter cost on the higher end was b/c it would have been high risk due to the seizures. I will say it's nice they aren't charging boarding fees on top of that. I know a lot of shelters do.

Had i not adopted him he would have been scheduled for an MRI next. In his medical records they gave me the order is there so if he has another seizure i can use the order to obtain an appointment with the animal MRI people. The SPCA doesn't have one on site. .
