Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | Erica - I just noticed the first picture with the pool - what chemicals do you use for the pool? I'm a little concerned here because I use the tablets with cyanuric acid in them as well as keep a borate level of around 50ppm and don't know if that's good for the dog? |

| I don't know what they used for the pool, its my boyfriends parents and they have only ever been allowed in their twice and got right out. We also rinsed them off right after, so nothing stayed on their coats, and they were as good as they could be for not drinking much! We never had any problems, but we didn't let it get that far either. We go there a lot during the summer and they are not happy that they have to play in the smaller plastic pool, while everyone else gets to be in the big one. |

Thanks for the reply - I've been debating whether to allow him in the big pool or just use the baby pool we have from my last child. We are going to install an invisible fence and I think I'll probably put a loop around the pool to exclude him - he really likes to drink from the pool cover (yuck) and it can be quite treacherous for him in the spring and fall when it's not fully frozen or liquid. Too bad - the dogs swimming in all the pictures look so satisfied...hubby doesn't want dog in the local ponds either - snapping turtles |

| Honestly, I know people do let them (huskies) in their pools and I might if it was ours but if you care about your pool, I wouldn't let him in ONLY because my boyfriends parents pool guy was furious we even let them in there because I guess their hair can easily clog the filter and those can be very expensive to replace, and sometimes you have to drain the whole thing and all this stuff. So if that doesn't sound fun to you, I would stick to the little plastic pool. If you don't mind that it might cause some damage, then I think you would be okay every now and then!
Luckily for us, we don't have to worry about to many snapping turtles where we let them swim, so they do lakes, ponds and the ocean a lot during the summer as their exercise. |
