We just got our husky yesterday and she's now 8 weeks. We live in a 2 story duplex except we only have stories 2-3. So I have to carry her outside every time she needs to go to the bathroom.

I want her to be able to go downstairs when she needs to go so we could know. That's the point. So when did your husky learn to go up and down stairs?

Lucian was a lot more willing to go up the stairs then down.  He was terrified of going down for some reason.  I think he was about 12 weeks old before he finally did it.  I had helped him along by placing him on the very bottom step a few times, then the next step up.  I only had 3 stairs for him to go up down though, lol.  It also helped when I put my hand on his side, so he knew someone would catch him if he fell.

Hi. I live on a the 3rd floor in a walk up and feel your pain. My little guy could go up stairs right away, but down was a little harder. Also, he usually couldn't make it to the bottom of the stairs before he peed, so I had to carry him. I would say by 11-12 weeks he could go up and down, but still wasn't reliable in terms of being able to go all the way down 3 flights of stairs without having an accident. Sometimes we'd make it all the way to the front door and he'd pee while I was opening the door. He really has stopped doing that in the last 2-3 weeks thankfully. He's 17.5 weeks now.

I'm going to echo what's been said already. When I first got Saber (about 10 weeks old), he could go up the stairs but didn't want to go down them. He was roughly 12 weeks when he could go up and down successfully.

Thanks! We also got her at 3 weeks old which could have something to do with it? Or the possibility that we have 2 stairs in the back yard she has to go up to come inside everytime and she just sees them as a couple more.

Wow thats very early. What happened was it some kind of rescue? I know its illegal in most states for breeders to sell a dog under 8 weeks.

Looks like he's doing pretty well though.

It wasnt a breeder, a girl i use to work with had puppies and we were planning on getting one. We found out they were feeding them spaghetti so we asked our vet if it would be better for us to get her now then wait. Our vet said yes and we have been training her ever since.

heres a video i took of Titan this morning.

With Karli I made it a game. We would run up and down the stairs together, so she was doing it within the first week that we had her. Now she chases balls up and down the stairs on rainy icky days.

We live on the 4th floor - around 12 weeks he was around 20-22lbs so it was getting hard to carry him up all the way.

Loki went down the stairs pratically the first day we got him, Balon was really quick too! And I have a flight of stairs straight down to my family room.
