Does anyone know what age a puppy's eye color will be permanent? We just got 3 week pics of our possible puppy and all the red ones have blue eyes as of now and it appears the gray one has brown. Is the blue permanent at 3 weeks?

I've heard it can take as long as 8 weeks to determine what their eye color will be. I believe they are all blue at birth.

That's what I was thinking too but wasn't sure. The weird thing is the gray female has brown eyes already. that's why I was wondering

Yeah, I would not trust the three week birth shots. Its possible that they could change to brown, but they could also stay blue. You never know. My first one had blue eyes when we visited him at 4 or 5 weeks, and then when we picked them up they were both half blue and half brown and I'm pretty sure they can change after the 8 weeks as well. No way of knowing for sure.

They can definitely change. They all look blue when they first open, similar to human babies. Reds are interesting too because if not blue, they could also be amber or green. If I remember correctly I could tell my pups would be brown by the time he was 5 weeks.

Harry had one blue and one brown. He's almost a year and the blue eye has faded and is getting whiter.
