Hi everyone! Up until today I thought Finley was just black/white but I picked her up from boarding after going out of town this weekend, and they wrote down that she is sable. Fin has reddish/orange areas on her legs and ears but I never thought much of it. Here are some pics, let me know what you guys think! Personally i think they're just brown areas but I'm no expert! Smile

From here she doesn't look sable to me. As I understand it, the undercoat is some shade of red, cream but not the beige of wolf gray. https://www.google.com/search?q=color+sable+Siberian+husky&oq=color+sable+Siberian+husky&aqs=chrome..69i57.17599j0j4&client=ms-android-att-us&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

I would be more apt to put her at a dilute black and white over sable. having buff spots in my mind doesnt change the whole color listing.

Did you receive papers on her? The papers will have her coloring listed, not specific, but you are much more able to narrow it down. If it says black/white, she is of course black and white but the dilute is a category in black and whites. If it says grey/white, then you can narrow it down to silver, sable, wolf grey, etc.

Shes actually not papered! Her breeder labeled her as dilute black and white though which is what I assumed. I love her coloring so it doesn't matter but the boarding place made me curious haha. I think the reddish brown areas are so pretty!

Your avatar, she looks totally dilute black and white but man, the pics you posted for this thread had me thinking she might be one of the greys, LOL. Amazing how lighting can play with their coats. And yeah, she's got beautiful coloring Smile

I agree also that she looks more like a black and white. I would assume the tans looked red to them. Really you can tell by checking out the root. Sable – made up of reddish colored roots with black tips, which is more prominent in the saddle area. Red, copper or chocolate make up the undercoat. I would say you could also be a wolf grey before the sable. Wolf grey – A yellow/brown color starting at the root and ending in a black tip. Beige, yellow, red or tan colors are found behind the ears, the hindquarters and along the saddle area on the back. The undercoat is beige.
