Hey everybody. Shredder has been on Wellness Puppy for almost a month now with almost great results. I ordered a large bag of it but after sitting down and doing some math, I realized that I could actually switch him over to Blue Wilderness and it would be a tiny bit cheaper (like a couple of dollars cheaper). Should I do it and why?

On another note, since last night, his stools have been kinda mushy. I don't know what to make of it. The only thing I changed in his diet was the addition of half an egg a couple of nights ago to his food because i ran out of food. The egg was added in addition to his kibble. I'm going to wait till Friday morning to decide whether or not to bring a sample to his vet. Thoughts?

For a few dollars in savings, it would not sway me to switch, unless there were other issues.  I will add that feeding a Husky too much food can result in soft to runny stools, especially with a puppy.  How old is Shredder?  How much are you feeding per meal? And how many meals per day are you feeding?  Protein can also cause soft stools.  The addition of half an egg could have put the protein over the top.  I would not make a food switch based on what you have posted at this point.  Just my opinion.  Good luck.  Cute little fellow.

He's being fed about 1 cup 3 times a day. I wasn't changing because of the cost of the food. I just thought since it's more affordable than I thought, why not switch to a better food. If it is significantly better that is.

The best food for a dog is whatever one he is doing well on. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it). The soft stool may have been from the egg. I would give it a few days to see if it firms back up.

I agree with Samantha, unless there is some kind of issue that develops I wouldn't make a change. I would however suggest varying the flavor of wellness you give him. Some variety in the diet is good, or if you really want to switch to blue you could instead do a mix of both. That way if there is ever a recall of one, you won't be stuck up a creek without a paddle. Honestly though, I would wait until he's a little older until you do a lot of messing with the diet. I think the soft stool was probably caused by the egg.

Okay. Thanks for the help. Shredder's poop has stiffened up a bit since I first posted. I won't be switching to blue then.
