Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

About 8 weeks ago my wife and I welcomed into our home our first husky. We used this forum a great deal when we were deliberating about whether a Husky was right for us and have been continually using it ever since. I figured it was about time to post an introduction, especially before we start seeking some of your veteran advice.

Below are some pictures of our (just shy of 16-weeks) Loki––named after that Norse God who ushers in Ragnarok and the death of the Gods, not after the Marvel Villian (though he is pretty cool too).  Very Happy From what I've noticed, there are also a few other Lokis around the forum.

Anyway, you'll probably be hearing quite a bit from us in the future. For one, we're thinking about switching to a raw diet eventually (we feed him Orijen right now). If we do make the jump, we will surely be seeking a good deal of advice. Additionally, as I am an avid ultramarathoner and my wife runs quite a bit as well, we'll be transitioning Loki into our running partner once he reaches that 18 month mark, or so. So we'll be looking for input around then.

Welcome! He looks super adorable. I'm sure many members on here will be able to help you out when and if you decide to transition to raw Smile

Thank you! From what I can already tell, there's a good deal of posts that are really informative about such a diet. My only concern with it is ensuring that Loki has a balanced diet––something that takes a lot more focus than scooping out a few cups of kibble!
