2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Our puppy is currently 4 weeks old and we look forward to bringing him home on October 20th. I hope that next year Kovu will be ready to take his first overnight/weekend trip in the late fall.

Ive poured a little time into reading different threads to learn what to expect and how to prepare him. Here are the questions I am left with:

1. What challenges did you face when introducing your puppy to trails?
We live in Kentucky so trails here are mostly wooded.

2. In the future a backpack would be an option, but intially I just want him in a harness for safety. We really like the Webmaster Harness and would like to get him in it ASAP for training. My thoughts are to get the S Webmaster until Kovu is grown and then the M Palisades will fit him as an adult. How Long can a male husky (given average build) fit in a Small webmaster/palisades?

Welcome!
I have yet to do an overnight hiking trip with our 2, we do weekend car camping trips a few times a summer though.

1. treat trail hiking like walking the neighborhood, keep them leashed and in sight, for sure in wooded areas

2. our girl at 43lbs fits the RW small harnesses, our boy at 59lbs fits the Med. because it takes a huskies chest time to fill out, like over 2yrs you should be able to pull the small off for some time if you are lucky. i love RW and everything they make!
