| Hi, this is my first post here, so try to bear with me...
During August I adopted a 4 yr old husky from my local shelter. She had been abused and neglected, her previous owner took no care of her what-so-ever, aside the food and water.
Well this week my husky started living with my cat. -I have 1 boxer and she loves cats -I have 1 staffie who loves cats, but he doesn't like her soaking him with her grooming mouth
My husky is apparently terrified of cats... so my question is... any advice on getting her used to him cause he likes to lay with the dogs and he likes my husky until she jumps like somebody shot her in the booty when she notices he is laying by her.
I don't want her ever attacking him out of fear either*
Any advice? |

| Treats. Treats treats treats.
Look! Cat! Treat! Oh you noticed the cat? Treat! Look the cat walked in and you didn't jump AS quick? JACKPOT (lots of treats)! Kitty in my lap! Treat!
Basically, make the cat a signal of very good things to come! If your dog isn't treat motivated, then use her motivator. Toys, praise - anything she loves. She only gets it when the cat is around (So for a few weeks, she may not get a lot of treats - only when cat is around).

| If it helps, we used the same technique to train both of our huskies to be ok with our guinea pigs. Granted we take precautions and a sturdy cage to keep them separate but after a couple weeks they lost interest. Aside from Mia mothering them that is. |

| We did the treat thing when we got a bunny. If my dog stayed still while the bunny hopped around, she got a treat. After a few weeks, she would lay on her side and let the bunny climb on her |

| Thanks for replying, that was very helpful. They have now moved onto sleeping in the same room.
Though they won't leave my side so I have to sleep with them... And now I get two showers a day... Yay dry skin lol. But things are proggressing very fast and very smooth, by Christmas they should be able to have free run of the house when I'm home. |
