Hey, what's up guys!
So the puppy has been great with me, he listens well and hardly bites me....but with my family members on the other hand is a different story. He goes insane around them, doesn't listen, barks and most of all excessively bites. He is calm one moment and crazy the other, he also jumps on to them and bites while they are sitting on the couch. It has gotten to the point where they can't be alone with him. This does not look like normal puppy teething or nibbling. My sister for example gives him a toy but he ignores it, she also yelps really loud but that makes him want to come back for more. And it's not nibbling because he bites down hard and pulls on the skin.

Why does my 19 week puppy do this to my family members but me. If you guys can help me out and give me some advice i'd really appreciate it!

P.S. I'd really like to resolve this issue on my own rather than getting a trainer, as he is the best obedient dog with me alone.

Here's what I'm talking about...

What your dog is telling you is that he doesn't think he has to respect those other people.  You're his caretaker so he'll respect you - if for no other reason than that you feed him.

Since most Siberians are very food oriented, I think I'd try something like this ... have one of the other people do a little training with him.  Give them a treat or two and get them to have him set (or whatever works.)  After a few rounds of this, get them involved in feeding / walking him.  The outright disrespect should take care of itself once they're *really* involved in training him.

Like humans, dogs live within a family setting; there are people they don't need to listen to (would you listen to your 5 year old sister? for example); if everyone is involved in training, feeding, walking him then he feels more like a part of the family and will start acting like one rather than like a spoiled brat.

I'll also comment that these are symptoms of a dog who isn't getting enough exercise and they make perfectly good toys for him to play with ... get everyone involved in getting him out and getting some of that excess energy out of his system.

ETA: I'd be very careful about using the term "aggressive" with any dog who's exhibiting puppy behaviors. Going for a bad example, let's say that he does nip someone outside your family harder than he should and they report it to the Animal Control - all they have to do is say "Well, you said he could be aggressive!" and you may find that your puppy has to be put down.

...Thank you!!I keep telling my family that this is not aggression but normal puppy behavior, but I always get replied with, "But my friends Shih tzu never bit this hard while they were a puppy"... Well, of course not!! That's not a high energy working class breed...But still they don't listen
I will take all your advice and definitely let them get involved in feeding and training.

For your comment about his not getting enough exercise daily, I don't think this is the issue..Though I might need to lower his exercise level per day...I walk him 2x daily each a 20-25 min walk, plus additional playing in the house, with other mental stimulation/training. The thing is if im around the house he will just mind his business and chew on a toy.
When when my sister watches him in the living room, she cant st peacefully.

@dinf22 I had to go back and check but since you apparently had him at 7.5 weeks, I'm guessing you took him earlier.  You might have noticed here that we recommend that a puppy stay with his litter pack for at least 8 weeks and 10 is better.  If you brought him home earlier, you're paying the price for a puppy who didn't learn bite inhibition from his siblings.  Take a look at this topic about puppy biting.

All of my earlier comment still applies - if he behaves with you then you need to get them involved with him.

I had to laugh at "shih tzu never bit this hard" well, it's got a smaller mouth - but their teeth are still sharp as puppies.

If that 50 minutes is a good paced walk you might be okay - that means you should be pushing about 3 - 4 miles which still isn't a lot for a Sibe.  We have members who run with their dogs 5+ miles, that means a lot of heavy work out for the dog (( but remember yours is still a puppy and you do want to take it easier on him - no running (except in a backyard where *he* can stop when he wants) and little or no hard surfaces (concrete sidewalks / blacktop (macadam?) ))

@aljones I'm not sure where you got the 7.5 weeks but I got the puppy at almost 9 weeks.
haha your right I should definitely get more involved in helping him respect the other members of my family.

I got quick question, so I'm trying to teach bite inhibition to my puppy but he wont bite down on me for me to yelp or correct him...Hell he rarely put his teeth on my skin, and if I place my hand in his mouth for him to bite, he'll use his paws to push my hand away. I want to teach him to keep teaching him to use less and less pressure.
Any tips?

I think that you'll find that if he behaves for you then you're really having to get the others involved.

I'll offer my advice but I'm less experienced than others here so take it with a grain of salt.

Whoever is in the video is too passive. They either need to be more aggressive (NO!) or, for the "all positive training" folks, fold their arms and turn away from the dog (keep in mind, the dog may still try to nip etc) so they'll have to endure that until the pup gives up.

Alternately, if the dog is kept on a leash at all times, it's easier to control/ correct them. There are videos of people who attach the dog to a door and only approach the dog when it's calm. As soon as the dog gets excited, they walk away, ignoring the dog until it's calm again.

In other words, the dog is allowed supervised interaction with others but the interaction only continues if the dog is calm.

Biting others can also be corrected by leaving the dog attached to the owner with a leash. As soon as a bite/ nip happens all interaction stops and the dog is pulled away and/ or crated etc.

When our dogs were younger, I taught my daughter and son to yell "OUCH!". But you have to really mean it! That worked for them. For me, I'd grab a hold of their lower jaw with my hand in their mouth and wouldn't let go until they got uncomfortable with me holding their jaw. It was a gentle pressure and if they got too crazy I would let go, but they hated it and stopped biting me relatively quickly.

Set the dog up for success by starting slow and progress as necessary.
