Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! | Hello. My name is Fr. Yuri and I am new to the whole world of Husky. We adopted a beautiful, 1-year-old Husky from the local Animal Services and she is adapting faster and better than we had hoped. It's very cool. I'm also a certified dog trainer but have never worked with a Husky before, so I will have plenty of questions for you all. In the past, I have worked with German Shepherd, Chihuahuas, Belgian Malinois' and Rottweilers even, but never a Husky before. |

| Hello and welcome. You will find some difference in training a husky but not a whole lot. I would rank a husky as much easier then a chihuahua or a terrier but harder then a shepherd and a rottie. One big difference is the husky wants to know why its doing something as opposed to just doing it. Both my girls are husky mixes and then i have a little terrier and a german shepherd. Ive always had atleast 3 dogs, and if i was gonna rank difficult to train breeds that ive owned, first place would be a tie between my rhodesian ridgebacks and the Tibetan mastiffs.... Huskies dont even come close to those breeds. |

| Thank you, @Lostmaniac. Baby is a year old and she just got done with the whole sleeping from kennel stress thing with the shelter so now she is acting more like a psychotic child than she was before. I went to take her out this morning and she was jumping all over the living room and bouncing like a wild animal. It was kind of fun to watch her for a second. But she is definitely having trouble with sit. I've been trying to get her to do that on command for like two days now and she just looks at me like, "Why?" or "I don't wanna." LOL. My Shar-Pei is a piece of cake. He does what he is told, all be it in a stubborn manner. I look forward to this new challenge in training. |
