1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Feeding chat once again Empty
PostSubject: Feeding chat once again    Feeding chat once again EmptyTue Apr 28, 2020 11:18 am

I know there have been a lot of chats on what you are feeding your dog and I’ve read a lot of them but it’s almost so much to read so I wanted to start a new one. My puppy is on purina pro from the breeder. I’ve now read that it’s not a good quality food so my question is what I should switch my puppy too she’s turns 3 months on Friday. I’ve been looking at
taste of the wild
Marrick
Instinct raw boost.
Blue buffalo or blue wilderness
I’ve seen a lot of treads with totw or blue but I haven’t seen anything with the other two brands. Has anyone tried them and how do you feel?

Here’s a puppy picture to brighten your day!!

Mine ate merrick back country until last year. None of my 4 will touch blue buffalo and ive tried every grain free flavor and type. They ate earthborn holistics . We did totw until they were covering up using non animal food grade ingredients. We've done purina true instinct. for the last year i have had them on essence. My shepherd has food allergies and spider requires high protein grain free which are 2 things you didnt mention.

So with merrick mine ate it and loved it up until they didnt. They did a recipe change and i think that had alot to do with it. But also with the recipe change my shepherds allergies got bad. Merrick seems to be a love it or hate it brand.

I personally look at the what is the bulk of the food ie meat protein vs plant protein. When i see pea or potato anything in the first 3 ingredients i stop looking at it.

You gotta feed what works for your dog. If your dog is doing well on something people's opinions of quality are kinda moot. They can do great on what some might consider poor quality and do horrible on what should be the best quality. Take any allergies into consideration. I have fed instinct. Mine will be getting their rabbit recipe when we finish this bag of zignature. I rotate what mine are fed that way if any one brand starts having an issue i will hopefully not fed mine so long that a buildup of bad balance may have started. I had good luck with TOTW Prey. Due to a potato intolerance Merrick and normal TOTW have been out for me for a long time. Mine get mostly raw, but I rotate between Zignature, Go! Solutions Carnivore, and Instinct Raw kibble. Figuring out what ingredients work and don't work for my dogs have made the biggest difference more so than any one brand.
