| Dear husky owners. Im experiencing something quite frustrating with my female husky.
She delivered 3 adorable husky puppies 3 months ago with c-section (caecarian section). And even though its currently her season to lose her fur , she's lost far more than normal and appears as if she's left with one layer (coat) of fur.
At the vet we've tested her negative for Leishmaniasis (Kala azar) and atm im giving her vitamines. Vet said that this maybe because of her difficult delivery, which was indeed a very traumatic 24h for the dog and I. Her body was weakened.
Anyone experienced something similar? The vet is excellent but i feel guilty for my husky. Hadn't let her mate she wouldn't have experienced all that in the first place.
PS: The puppies are healthy and very very very adorable. |

| she's 5 years old. Maybe neutering her changed her system and losing that much of fur is part of it? |

| Stressed dogs lose fur. So a hard pregnancy (they are all hard frankly) will definitely be at least some of the excess fur loss. Heat stress and general stress from other things too though can cause it. A dog that has anxiety over going to the vet or fireworks or other loud noises can lose a lot of hair in a short period of time. _________________ |

| I hope it’s stress related! Pregnancy was stressful to her, but that was almost 4 months ago. How long does it take to get back the fluffy outer fur? |

| It can take a while. Pregnancy alters hormones and it can take a while to get them back in line if they will do it at all. Good quality food and vitamin supplement and then just wait it out. If the hair is going to go back to how it was before I wouldn't be surprised for it to take upwards of a year. _________________ |

| Per TwisterII, I have a vague memory from when my Mom raised OES, that fur loss took up to after the following heat to recover. Always annoyed her because would impact showing the bitch, particularly when she was trying to finish the dog. |

| Hi, Husky Owner,
Glad to know that your husky female dog delivered three adorable puppies three months ago. However, the fur loss is worrisome for any responsible pet parent like you.
It is good that she has been tested negative for Leishmaniasis. It is important to note that fur loss may be an implication of various underlying health issues and not just the weakness after the delivery of puppies.
I would suggest you get a second opinion by taking your female husky dog to some other vet. I understand that you are satisfied with your current vet, his diagnosis, and the line of treatment he may be executing.
However, it’s better to get another expert opinion, maybe from a professional vet dermatologist. |

| Just a quick update on the situation. Fur has grown significantly and it's slowly getting back to previous state. I tend to agree with the vet that the fur loss was due to the stress of the difficult pregnancy and operation. After all dogs are also living beings as humans with psychological health as well. So im giving her vitamins and waiting for the fur to come back. |
