So with AKC you get points if you win at shows. You can get up to 5 points in any one show and if the show gives 3 to 5 points they are reffered to majors. The amount of points offered depends on how many dogs of a certain breed are entered. For example, here in FL (varies by region) you need 2 dogs of the same sex to get 1 point and 13 for females to get 5 points.

So Elara and my first AKC show is next week. I looked up how many dogs were entered. Since it's FL, I was hoping for at least one other female to give me a chance to at least earn 1 point. There weren't too many entered in this show last year. But low and behold, Thursday and Friday are both 3 point majors! Saturday is a 4 point major! And Sunday is a 5 point major!!! (If everyone shows up.) Way to make me nervous for my first shows! Hopefully we can earn some points, but there's a lot of competition. But if we do awesome, Elara could get her championship in just one weekend! lol. Not going to happen, but it would be cool (and save me a lot of money!)

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I can't believe there will be that many sibes there. There are 17 entered in the Sunday show! They're coming out of the woodwork somewhere! I know a few are coming down from Georgia.

So how did you do?

I didn't get anything. I beat one dog in my class, but she then beat me three times after that. I've been having trouble going up against "the sisters." lol. They are really nice littermates and have been winning almost everything along with their brother and of course they are about the same age as Elara and always in her class. So after losing to them 8 times, I'm taking a break and waiting until they are finished (which should be soon) before entering again. I'm going to focus on international shows in Sept. and agility in the mean time.

Oh man. I don't know how those judges do it. They are all so gorgeous. I went to the Florida Classic Clusters just to watch. That would be so fun to do the showing. I would love to do that. I'm sure it can get expensive with all the travel. I wish there was more shows in Fl and I wish the husky club was still around.

I know! I was so sad to learn that there used to be a husky club, but it's no longer. I have a friend who used to have huskies, now shows goldens, and she used to be a part of the club.
