Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Holly and Loki Empty
PostSubject: Holly and Loki   Holly and Loki EmptyWed May 20, 2009 2:37 am

Hey everyone! I thought I would post up with a thread on my two trouble makers, Holly and Loki. Holly is a five year old Greater Swiss Mountain dog and Loki is a two year old Entlebucher Sennenhund. They aren't Huskies but they are snow-loving breeds, two of the four Swiss breeds. Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs were bread to pull carts uphill in deep snow in the Swiss mountains, and the Entlebucher Sennenhunds were used as herding dogs in snow. As such, they are both very strong for their size-Swiss mountains dogs can pull about 700 pounds and the Entles have a record of about 300 pounds (I believe).

Holly is a fairly large dog (over a hundred pounds) and throws her weight around whenever she can. She is the gaurd dog, the loud mouth, and the one that is scared of pretty much anything that moves. She is usually the one that tears into the trash can while we are gone or pulls food off of the counter when my family isn't looking.

Loki is a clown. He is the one that will make you laugh at the completely wrong time. he loves to sit on the sofa and watch my family while we are watching tv. He loves to play tug of war whenever he can get one of us to play it with him and he is always determined to win. He is a smaller dog (about 60 pounds) but is built like a tank. Unfortunately he has some problems with his joints due to previous injuries, but he is still one of the most active and animated dogs I have ever known.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures...I will try and get some better pictures in a little while!

They are so super cute! My upstairs neighbor had a Swiss Mt dog and she was beautiful. I love the Bernese Mt dogs too. A good friend of mine has one and he's the most adorable dog ever! A big cuddly bear Smile

... and welcome to the forum!

Haha yeah. Unfortunately we got rid of that chair, so he has now taken over a black recliner that was never meant for dogs...but he makes it work!

Holly reminds me of a Saint Bernard with short hair. A colleague of mine breeds Saint Bernards down in C Springs and would put the puppies in a basket and show them around her office. Seems like a good relaxation strategy at the dental office! Wink

Loki may be like my Gunny. I'm still learning his fun personality.
