I have a 6 month old husky named Bruce.
hes an awesome dog. he loves to play and go outside and when its time to relax hes a fan up cuddling up and watching tv but my biggest problem with him is that he acts very dominant he ignores when i tell him to stop doing something bad even when i go over to stop what he is doing (mostly trying to get to food or chewing on something that isn't his) i also have another black lab that he likes to steal his food rather than eat his own. he will ignore his bowl and just eat the other one. my lab is a family dog and he is almost ten years old with thyroid problems that make him tired and over weight and with his issues its really hard to teach bruce to be nice to him. Ive been trying to help my lab but bruce insist on cutting in front of him before my lab can go any where and he likes to bite him around the neck as well which i think is just trying to play. anyways im just struggling to get him to be less dominant. ive tried putting him on his back and saying no firmly it really depends on the severity of what he did on how i react any help would be awesome

I have a 7.5 month old, and she is as stubborn as a mule sometimes. We have used the Nothing In Life is Free (NILIF) method of training, and that has helped both our dogs tremendously. We have a Cocker Spaniel as well, who has a lot of behavioral issues and the NILIF has really helped her.

You might need to feed them separately for a while so that Bruce learns a few manners. There are tons of threads on this forum that you can search out and it will give you all kinds of good info. Best of luck with Bruce!

He's not being dominent. He's being a 6 month old Siberian puppy who hasn't learned his manners yet lol he needs you to teach him what is acceptable and what is not. Like Merideh posted above, NILIF training is where you start, positive reinforcement is key. Never do the alpha roll when he is just being a mischevous pup, that's only warrented for aggressive dogs who need serious disipline. Start making him wait for his food by making him sit and only let him eat after you give a release command. At this stage of puppyhood he needs to be working for almost everything, even affection. Pretty soon he's gonna discover that he can do and get whatever he wants. Huskys are incredibly intelligent and he will catch on fast that you mean business. For now, until he gets the sitting and waiting for his food, id feed them both in separate areas.
