I figure the only way this is getting done is to keep myself motivated with a picture thread of my progress. So far 20 minutes gone just measuring the beast.
Breast bone to base of tail: 35"
Shoulders to tail: 28"
Breast bone to shoulder (x2 for neck): 15"
Shoulder to last rib: 20"

Measured out 144" of webbing giving myself a little bit of sewing room...

Now I'm off to set the thread for this project and mark off the neck and x parts.

No room for error it turns out. Not enough leftover nylon to make a fresh one. I'll definitely be measuring three or four times before sewing.

Got everything set. Next is tacking the tail end then the fleece and foam padding. But first comes the dog "run". It's 50 something outside right now. They don't run when it's hot.

Getting back to this thing...

You would think by now that I would've learned to have two full bobbins ready.

What kind of sewing machine do you have? I'm trying to find one for myself that can handle nylon without killing the motor.

I've got an old Pfaff 234 industrial machine. Not quite big enough for leather, but nylon is no problem.

Finished at 7:30am. That was close. Didn't get any in between shots though...
