Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.

Has anyone have a problem with their puppy eating the nylabone and getting diarehia? i'm trying to figure out what is causing it. he seemed to be fine this morning and after I gave him the bone a little while later he had loose stool again.

We haven't had that problem with nylabone, but we have with rawhide. Have you switched up his food or introduced anything else that could be the problem?

no had switched him over to TOTW about 3 weeks ago seemed fine but latley he has been mixed soft to watery loose trying to figure if it is the food or something else been going on about a week since I have been giving him the nylabone of course he eats everything he finds in the yard and on walks lol

Are you speaking of the edible Nylabones or the nylon ones? If it's the edible ones, they are full of wheat. Sabaka cannot tolerate wheat (or could not as a puppy and therefore we have not tried it again). The edible Nylabone's ingredient list is quite long... it could be a number of things.

Huh, I hadn't even seen the edible ones, I just assumed he was talking about the nylon ones. That would make a big difference there... Ghost had a lot of problems with grain as a puppy, but she seems to be growing out of it at least somewhat. We can give her cookies in small quantities and she's totally fine. If she goes to Petsmart and gets loaded up with cookies and biscuits she'll still go a little soft sometimes, but mostly she's fine. We love the Trader Joe's cookies, too.

Hmmm... After you said that, Meredith, I got concerned that I was thinking of another product, so I Googled it. I think Nylabone may have reformulated their edibles because they now say that they are "Gluten Free" but I can't find an ingredient list.

Yeah apparently I'm either not very observant or our Petsmart doesn't carry those, because I don't remember ever seeing them. I'll have to look the next time I'm in there. It's probably just that I didn't notice them though Razz

it is the nylon bone not the edible ones although he seems to eat quite a bit of them. he can chew the ends off in a half a day. He loves to chew!!

You might want to try switching to the normal Nylabones. Those might be too soft for him since he seems to chew them up so quickly. Honestly, we never used any of the puppy specific stuff, even with things like Nylabones and Kongs.

Geez with the listed ingredients I'm not so sure I'd want my dog or puppy ingesting "inert soft thermoplastic polymer." That stuff is probably flying thru the pups belly faster then any high fiber diet known to man or dogs.

Kya had loose stool after consuming a nylabone as well, so we switched her to the KONG, but not puppy kong.

Now we use real knuckle bones from the feed store. It can get messy but it kills the chewing and no loose stools.
