We will be having our holiday hike at Deer Creek Canyon Park Open Space. We will start promptly at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 6th.

It is advised that all dogs be leashed for our hiking event. This is a free event, however, we are asking that all attendees bring a new unwrapped toy that we will be donating to Toys ...for Tots and the United States Marine Corps on behalf of the Husky Huddle and Malamute Mingle - Colorado Facebook Group!

Please RSVP to this site if you plan to attend! This park is huge, as we get closer we will send out which trail we will hike and directions on where to meet!!!

We look forward to seeing you all there...it will be a HOWL of a great time!!!

Getting There
From the metro area, travel south on C-470 to Kipling exit. Turn west, (right) on W. Ute Avenue, then west (right) on Deer Creek Canyon Road. Turn left on Grizzly Drive, then right into Deer Creek Canyon Park.

Positive treats for you. We've gotta at least get Jenn to proof read her posts once before she pushes send.

I see this. I will most likely be able to make it.

Negative treats for you. You're the worst proof reader ever! Of all people, I figured that you'd be the one to try and help Jenn with her little problem!

I'm still trying to decide if we're in or not. But with a maximum 2,194' vertical gain, you know which trail me and doggies will be on.

Eddy what trail you talking about? I don't see anything with that big of a gain and if you're not hiking with us they you're not really on the "group Hike" Smile I suggested doing meadowlark and looping back on Plymouth creek trail. they are still deciding what one to do. the red mesa loop looks nice put you need to hike into it first to do it, not really at the trail head. not sure how much our group likes to hike in the cold, I would be up for it.

I highlighted it in red. If it's like the trail maps on the county site here, you have to add the gain from both legs to get the total. Plus the loss added back in for the round trip total.

HA!

Based on the fact that most ALL of that trail is horse/bike accessible, I can at least tell you there won't be any class 3 scrambling up there. That route comes out to five-ish miles round trip. Time is going to depend on conditions. Just strolling along might take three hours or so. I really don't know.

OK, here are the last minute details for our hike this coming Sunday!

Where to MEET:

We will park at the trail head parking off of Grizzly drive. We will be hiking the meadowlark trail that is hiker only and approximately1.6mil. This trail will intersect the Plymouth creek trail and we can take that back to the car and make a loop out of it, also near a stream which will make this about a 3 mile round trip hike.

What to BRING:

An unwrapped toy for Our Toys for Tots Donation on behalf of Husky Huddle and Malemute Mingle ~ Colorado

Do not forget to have water and a packable dish as well as your poop bags for your pet. Remember to dress appropriatley for the weather, have good hiking shoes and don't forget water and treats for yourself.

WE will start promptly at 12 noon! If you get lost or have questions call: Frank 719.235.7302 or Jennifer 215.917.3650

IT WILL BE A BLAST! SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!!

Well, I'm not gonna make that one. My mommy can't make it, and we're partying the night before. I have to be up on the trail early or I get frustrated with falling sunlight. That and there's no way my dogs would be okay with a three mile walk. We're too intense for our own good.

Have fun though. I'm planning another Larimer County mountain in the next three weeks.

Yeah, but Coco. She's gonna snap at a dog, and I'm going to throw her down violently and everyone will feel tension and confusion about my abusive tactics. I'm not leaving her home either. The pack is a pack and everyone has eachother's back. I need at least three acres of space to ease Coco into any gathering. Unless I walk each individual dog along side of her for a greeting. What a project she has been. Not to mention how friggin' far y'all are down south. Oh, Bubba and Tambi wouldn't fit in at all.
