So now that Freya's tummy seems to be settled now I'm trying to get back to teaching her simple commands.
She is sitting occasionally for me nad has started taking the treat nicely, again only on occasion.
The thing is she is so distracted by absolutelly EVERYTHING!
I packed away all the toys thinking that would help, but no, she goes adn looks at a ball of fluff on the carpet.
I try to get her attention adn she loks at me with those big all knowing eyes as if to tell me she's bored and walks away.

How can I get her attention long enough to teach her anything? She liked the treats on saturday, sunday she wasnt feeling well (she had an upset tummy - I'm presuming from the stress of leaving her litter mates) so I didnt do any training with her and today she is spitting them out.

I dont know if i'm pushing her too hard, I dont even get 10 minutes of training into a session. Sometimes she is really willing to listen but others she is jumping all over the place like a lunatic.

I've read a few people saying they got kicked out of puppy pre-school and I'm starting to see why.

10 minutes is about all you can ask from a puppy in one sitting. Really 5 minutes is ideal as you don't want them to get bored and frustrated. Try doing more shorter bursts (or randomly teach her things throughout the day) rather than stacking it all up at once. Try cooked bits of chicken or beef as treats- most dogs won't pass that up!

A puppy's attention span is ridiculously short. It's best to get them excited, and train through a few treats, then stop abruptly and go on about your day. You wanna end on a high note, and while they aren't bored. This will make them excited to continue again later, and not give them too much to think about so they can't get confused.

You can rotate through different treats and toys to keep her focus level up. If she gets sick of getting the same treat over and over, they will become unresponsive.

So far I've tried dried beef liver & boiled chicken bits. She is now bored with both :/ She is just so distracted. If I get her excited she doesnt focus enough to pay attention and do the command I'm asking her to do.

She is only 6 weeks old correct? She is very young, try training for just 2 or 3 minutes. My dogs will do anything for a bit of cooked chicken lol.

Yeah she is only 6 weeks. I didnt know if I was being too hard on her, or if it's good to start young.
Is it better if she is hungry when I'm trying to traine her, that way she will be focused on getting the treat reward?
So maybe like half an hour before meal times?

At 6 weeks, all i would be trying to train is sit, come and maaaybbee stay. That's a lot to ask out of a very young pup, recently separated from her momma.

When i say rotate treats, i mean mid-session. Something different every time. I have a bag of what i call Keeonah's doggy trail mix lol. It's mostly kibble with some salmon treats, and a few other kinds of treats tossed in. She seems to love it, but she is soooooo food motivated.

I will admit though, i made my original post thinking your girl was maybe 8-9 weeks. at 6 weeks, getting a night's sleep would impress me

Her crate training is going really well. She went in it herself this morning for a rest - I was super impressed. She isnt crying as much during both the day nad night when I put her in there.
Her toilet training is going well, she still has the occasional accident with poos (she's been having some loose BMs atm so it makes it a bit difficult) but with wees she's nealy always on the mark.

She is doing really well with sit, but still needs the treat there to intise her into the possition, but she's getting so much better. She even did a few laydowns today which i was pleased with.

Don't forget to work on the command "Look at me" or "Eyes" or whatever you want to call it. It means that he needs to pay attention because you're going to say something to him.

Also some dogs are not food motivated. Our vet's dog will do nothing for food so she gives him a few minutes of tugging with a rope as a reward because he loves to play. Others just love a belly rub. Perhaps you can find another reward.

OOh I like the 'Eyes' command. I'm going to have to start that one. THats her biggest thing I thyink is getting distracted by all of her surroundings.
I was trying to get her to sit before giving her her lunch today and even though she could clearly see the food bowl, she was more interested in my foot.

She does enjoy playing, so I'll try playing a game with as reward adn see if that's any improvment.
