Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Doggie Ice Cream

1 each ripe banana
2 to 3 oz. plain yogurt (use non-fat for dieting doggies)
2 oz. water

Blend all the ingredients together in a food processor or blender until smooth. Pour it into small freezer safe cups or into sections of an ice cube try. Let them freeze until solid.

Fruity Yogurt Treats

2 each mashed kiwis or a jar of fruit baby food
8 oz. strawberry (or any flavor you want) yogurt

Mix together, freeze in ice cube tray. Serve. These do not damage gums and teeth like ice does.

Frozen Peanut Butter Fluff's

1 jar peanut buter (more or less)
a lot of oatmeal

Scoop out a slab of peanut butter and roll it around in the oatmeal. Place the treat on wax paper and put the wax paper on a plate. Freeze it for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Then cut into little pieces and serve to you're dog.

Yogurt Pups

1 (32 oz.) plain non-fat yogurt
3/4 cup water
1 tsp. chicken bouillon (powder, granules, or 1 cube)

Dissolve bouillon in water. Combine water and yogurt in blender and blend thoroughly. Pour into small plastic containers, cover with tin foil and freeze. You can also make these with fruit instead of the bouillon.

Apple Crunch Pupcakes

2 3/4 cups water
1/4 cup applesauce (unsweetened)
1/4 tsp vanilla
4 cups whole-wheat flour
1 cup dried apple chips (you can also use fresh fruit)
1 tbs baking powder
1 egg, beaten slightly
4 tbs honey

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray muffin tin with non-stick spray. Mix all wet ingredients thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl. Add wet to dry slowly, scraping well to make sure no dry mixture is left. Pour into muffin tins. Bake for 1 1/4 hours or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out dry. Store in a sealed container. Makes around 12-14 pupcakes.

Microwave Dog Biscuits

1 cup whole-wheat flour
3 tbs. oatmeal
1 each egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp. garlic powder
2/3 cup beef or chicken broth

Place flour in a bowl, add egg and broth, mix well. Blend in oatmeal and garlic powder. Roll dough into a ball, roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/2" thick. Cut with small doughnut cutters. Re-roll scraps and repeat. Arrange on a shallow baking dish or on a sheet or parchment paper in a single layer. Cook on HIGH 10 minutes or until firm. Let cool intil hardened. Store in covered container in refrigerator.

Nutty 'Nilla Nummies

3 tbs. creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup canola oil
2 tbs vanilla
2 medium eggs
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1/2 cup rolled oats

Combine the peanut butter, water, oil. eggs, and vanilla in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer until well mixed. Set aside. Combine the cornmeal, whole-wheat flour, unbleached flour, and rolled oats in a second bowl and mix. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and beat either by hand or electric mixer until a ball of dough forms. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured board to a thickness of 1/2 inch. Use a favorite cookie cutter and place cut biscuits on a non-stick cookie sheet. Bake at 40 degrees for 20 minutes.

Snickerpoodles

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup honey
2 eggs
3 3/4 cups white flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup cornmeal
2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix vegetable oil, shortening, honey with eggs. Beat well. Add flour, soda, and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Mix the cornmeal and cinnamon together in a bowl and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Press the balls down with a fork. Bake for 8-19 minutes at 400 degrees. Cool on a rack. Store in airtight container.
