Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Nasty Neighbours... Empty
PostSubject: Nasty Neighbours...   Nasty Neighbours... EmptySun Nov 11, 2012 3:38 pm

Hello All Smile

I have a little problem...I have neighbours from the next street putting in complaints to the police of neglect and failing that working (because he wasnt) they have now complained to the council about noise! Now he can only be making noise when I am at work through the day as I very rarely hear him on the way there or back. For a husky he is very quiet!

Although I know it can not be as bad as they make out it is worrying me quite a bit. I am pretty sure it must be due to loneliness as he is a little clingy anyway and he is my only dog.

Now my question is...is there anything I can do? And would getting him another husky friend help the problem as he wouldnt be lonely or would it intensify the problem?

I am more than happy to get another if it would help and have the time and money.

Thank you Smile

Is he outside while you're gone? Have you thought about putting him inside in a crate while you're gone? I know its not ideal, but it may stop them from complaining. Two dogs would be noisier I would think than one dog because of all the playing they would be doing.

Heya...umm nah he can't stand me locking him in a crate, he gets very upset and cries constantly! He doesn't seem to mind he's outside, it is just being in his own as he tends to cry a little when I leave him downstairs too if I pop upstairs.

The neighbour basically said his howling is irritating so I don't think playing would be an issue but then I guess it depends on how noisy husky play is haha I seem to have a very quite playful boy in general...no growling or yapping, etc. just a lot of jumping ha

My two are quiet as can be when they're resting or doing their own thing, and Koda was practically always silent when it was just him, but if they're playing, especially outside, they are LOUD and I often will close the dog door and make them come back inside when they're playing as to not bother the neighbors.

I would crate him. I know you said he cries, they all do. We all have the same problem. He will get over it just have to be more stubborn than him. We do have a couple of threads on crating and the anxiety so I would look for some of those. Anna has very bad anxiety and she cried for months then get over it. Plus I wouldn't leave my dog outside unattended too many people stealing dogs in the US at least.
