Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Strange Behaviors That Make No Sense Empty
PostSubject: Strange Behaviors That Make No Sense   Strange Behaviors That Make No Sense EmptyWed Mar 24, 2010 11:41 am

On Monday I took all the dogs along for the second run (Cosmo run). While we were waiting for a walk signal at an intersection, I let them all sniff and whiz on the light post. Then Cosmo started doing something my dogs have always done, that scratching after peeing thing. BUT, he's not peeing. Cosmo has yet to mark or poop on one of our runs. He has started scratching with all four feet whenever ANY of the dogs pee. So when Ridik, Bubba and Sioux all mark the same object, Cosmo scratches for each of them. Of course they each scratch for their own accomplishments too. That means for every marking stop I have five dogs scratching and one dog scratching five times. We leave on helluva mess behind when they're in rocks or mulch.

Stupid sled dogs.

¿Any of your dogs have something they do that makes no sense?

My parents dog Dawson is the clumsiest dog ever. He literally runs into everything. Bumps his head on the doorways, runs into legs, runs into the table... etc. He also has this thing about standing on your feet. It's annoying as hell.

Koda and Hailey literally gnaw on each other's legs. I always knew huskies played rough, but they literally CHEW on each other's legs like chick bones. Koda will also latch onto the back of her tail and let her drag him around the house. It's rather entertaining Smile

Icon loves to be loved on, but if you get extra snuggly and he gets excited he likes to flea bite. It's not a traditional "bite", he uses only his front teeth and it tickles like crazy! He's so funny sometimes:) he gets this crazy look in his eyes sometimes and it's like he can't stop running, and nothing or no one will get in his way, couches are jumped over, other dogs, sometimes people. Then he eventually stops, usually on top of me and wants loved on. He's special:)

Ok, wait. You walk FIVE dogs at one time? We have failed miserably, then. Walking 2 at one time is a chore for us. Since adding Mika, we have tried all three only once. We now take them one at a time. What have we done wrong? Our three could have their own show: Huskies Behaving Badly! I am so embarassed! It is like having three Rugrat kids running around our house! Nanuk seems to be the worst. We have tried the Gentle Leader with him, slide collars, everything. (exept the pinch collar, even tho it was recommended) One time with the Gentle Leader, Nanuk was up on his hind legs, hopping on them down the street. Literally....he hopped from 1/2 way down the block to the corner. Maybe I should start a thread? Maybe all of you can show us the way..... Embarassed I would love to be able to walk them all at once, calmly!

When I run my dogs it's five. When we run Cosmo it's six or seven dogs depending on if Jasmine is here and not limping from digging. I'm not sure I could really explain how I ended up being able to do that. Eight seems to be my limit no matter which dogs are involved.

do the pinch collar! we use it on Jack and it helps some but that silly dog does not even seem affected by it, but he is better than just leash. we walk our 2 together
