2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Had a Small Scare while Biking the Dogs Yesterday Empty

Hey gang! I wanted to share my experience yesterday with everyone....

I typically bike the dogs every afternoon unless their pads need a break. I normally bike with Loki to my left and Tia to my right, like so:

Well, our apartment's dog park is muddy from all the rain, so I left the bike outside the gate when we made our pit stop. It was tough to get them hooked back up with the bike on the outside, so I ended up switching their normal positions (Loki to the right).

Tia did fine, but Loki seemed excited to be next to the side of the road. We were passing a small hill with pine straw and he jumped up on it while still running alongside the bike. I didn't think too much of it, and kind of chuckled at how happy he seemed.

When he jumped back down, though, he either overshot his landing or tried to get to his normal side. He ended up crossing over the backside of the bike and getting tangled up. I felt it immediately and tried to hit the brakes, but we went a few yards before I was able to stop all the way.

He didn't yelp and wasn't making any noise, so I wondered what the heck happened. I looked down and all I saw was one of his front arms sticking through the rear bike wheel!

I freaked out and was worried that he either broke bones or ripped skin, because I saw hair floating around the accident site. Shocked

When I hopped off the bike and looked at him, he was just standing there panting and looking at me like "hey can we get going again?" He pulled his own arm back through the bike wheel and I managed to get him back over to the correct side. He had a small black stain on his fur from the tire, but he ran the rest of the way home. He was (luckily) uninjured!

I wanted to share this as a reminder to everyone how quickly accidents can happen. I'm always super-careful with the dogs when we're out on the bike, but this happened so fast it was unavoidable. It was a great reminder to be more alert during our rides.

Why are huskies so good at giving us heart-attacks? lol!

Glad to hear nothing mayor happen. I'm planing to get a bike to get molly out for biking. I guess switching the order you always bike with them make Loki a little more exited than he normally is.

glad he didn't break his leg or anything. when i was around 5 my foot (while barefooted) went through the spooks of a bike, i was sitting on the handle bars, and it cut about a inch circle all the way to the ankle bone.
