I really would like to start Caoimhe off on raw, but I'm not prepared to jump in 100% at this point. I know a handful of you do partial raw on here so I was hoping to get some info from you.

How often do you feed your dogs raw?

I know you aren't supposed to feed raw and kibble together as they digest at different rates and can cause upset. So on the days you feed raw do you strictly do it, or is on meal kibble and one meal raw? Obviously a small puppy needs to eat more times per day that an adult who can eat once, so just wondering what to do on those days.

Do you do organs too or just meat/bone? I'm not going to lie, the organ thing grosses me out, which is one of the big reasons I am not fully into it at the moment.

Any other comments or advice would be awesome!

Check out theRaw Feeding Forum for a lot of really great threads on this!

Also, this sticky that Val started. It has a TON of great information for those just starting, including starting with puppies.

It also has a lot of great questions already answered from people just starting out. I'm sure people would be more than happy to help with information that's not found in there too!

Thanks Katie! I've checked it out and belong to a couple raw groups on FB, read a couple books. It's hard when you're not going to switch to raw 100% because kibble is seen as the devil lol. I don't even want to bring it up in the raw groups because I will get a tongue lashing for even mentioning the "K" word!

I plan on a rotational diet of high end, grain free kibble/raw/ dehydrated and then seeing how she does.

If you're going to feed both I've heard that you should feed raw for breakfast and not feed any kibble for about 6-8 hours. And after you feed kibble, no raw until 12 hours later, to help prevent upset. From what I've found anyways, good luck!

I feed partial raw and usually will feed raw one day and kibble the next. Bear in mind that my dogs are adults and normally only have one meal a day. I also sometimes feed plain raw and other times a combination of raw with dehydrated or freeze dried raw like Grandma Lucy's or The Honest Kitchen. I primarily try to have bone in every raw meal but there are some days that I don't give bone. I don't give much organ because I don't really need to but every now and then I include a small amount.
