2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Trouble with 8 month old husky Empty
PostSubject: Trouble with 8 month old husky   Trouble with 8 month old husky EmptyThu Nov 07, 2013 5:52 pm

I am very active person and like to run rollerblade and go for walks but my 8 month old refuses to do any activity that she doesn't wanna do. If I don't let her go in the river and make her go another way on our walks she will either bite me or mainly pull at the leash or else lay down and refuse to walk anymore. I take her on light jogs because I'm really slow so it really a walking pace for her but she does the same thing and gets mad. How do I stop her from pulling on the leash. She also is extremely mouthy when she get excited. It's mainly to new people that come over or she sees on her walks. She's very friendly she just doesn't get it to not use her teeth when she's excited . Does anyone know how I could train her to calm down. I have been making her sit for 10 mins before I let her go near anyone so she calms down a little but it doesn't work that great. She weighs 66 pounds and most people are afraid of her when they come over because she will come charging and then teeth hello doesn't help.

Have you read through this thread yet? There's lots of good information on how to train your husky.

Arooroomom's positive reinforcement/ force free training thread.

Also, look up walk your dog with love. I don't personally use that particular harness & method, but there are some others on here that do and have had success.

There are great threads on the training category. Take a look through, and I'm sure that some of your questions (especially mouthing) should be answered there.

Other than that, welcome to the world of huskies. They are independent, and no two are alike. Smile
