| Hey everyone, Sorry for the long hiatus. Once again, medical school is taking it's toll on my free time. We're also closing on a house tomorrow, so there's that bit of chaos tossed our way. Achilles is growing nice and big (he'll be seven months next week, holy crap!). Given that, we are looking to get him neutered soon (preferrably in the next month some time.) Do any of you have recommendations for where to go in the Maryland/DC area? Our vet wants to keep him overnight and to charge $450(!), so we're thinking of going to a clinic instead. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Here's a picture of Achilles bummed that we ran out of ice cream. |

| If you're willing to make the trek up here, our vet is significantly cheaper. I don't remember exactly how much, but they generally don't keep them overnight and the whole staff there is wonderful.
ETA: $290-320 depending on if he's over 50 lbs or not, but they have to do an exam first since you don't normally go there. Those are $60, but there are 20% off coupons floating around online, and since you're military you get 10% off on all services except meds. | I'm at the DC/VA/MD border and if you go through the local animal shelter and purchase the spay/neuter voucher it cuts the cost significantly and does not require an overnight stay, but does not cover medication, which is usually $40-60.
I just called the shelter and two vets off the top of my head that participate prices are for 40-60 lbs weight range:
$217 hayfield vet ($60 office visit) $115 hybla valley vet (I don't believe they charge for first visit)
There is a big book of other participating vets to choose from, but all the rates are different.
I'm taking Hayden to the vet today and I'll ask my vet (Caring Hands Vet) how much they charge. |

| Thanks Meredith and Kelly! We were also considering using a local neuter clinic, what have you guys heard about those in the area, if anything? |
