Not a reputable rescue nor breeder. SaraB has talked extensively with this guy. He doesn't even neuter his " rescue" dogs.

Yep. I went on a rant about that guy in a past post (though I left him unnamed). Are you looking for a puppy or adult? The siberian husky rescue of FL and Husky Haven of FL both have a ton of sibes right now. Even my mom, who does all breed rescue, had one (found her a home today, but we're not sure if it's going to stick or not. We might be getting her back.). I also know of a few reputable breeders in FL and GA.

The issues I have with that guy is he doesn't get the hips checked on the parents. His excuse for breeding is to help pay for his rescue. He doesn't show or do anything like agility, obedience, etc. with his dogs. He adopts out unneutered/unspayed dogs which I believe is illegal for a rescue or shelter to do in FL. He also made a website for sibe breeders and it pretty much gives BYB's and puppy mills free advertising (we'll he does get $25 from each member each year of course!). He seems like he's really only in it for the money, since a lot of the rescues he doesn't even keep at his house, he just finds homes for them while the dog is still at the old home (which isn't a bad thing, but I wouldn't call that a rescue).

Oh there is a really pretty red male down in south fl that someone found and needs to find a home. He's a very pretty boy! I don't think he's actually in the rescue. He's just with the guy who found him.

We had 3 rescues pop up here in the Pensacola area over the weekend, if you're interested talk to Mermaidista here on the forum, she's coordinating the rescue effort in this part of the state.

FWIW, I did go through this breeder to get Ghost. I didn't know enough at the time to see the red flags until I paid my deposit and he said "oh by the way my friend has the puppies that are almost ready". By then, I knew it probably wasn't the best but I was invested both financially and emotionally so I went ahead with it. So far everything has been ok, but you can bet your butt I'm getting her hips checked at 2 years old.

I won't comment on the website or anything but I was browsing and found this poem on there... I've turned into a right soppy individual lately and this brought more than one tear to my eye! (It is quite long so I put it in a spoiler, just hit the grey box to read).

How Could You?
By Jim Willis 2001

Spoiler:

A note from the author: If "How Could You?" brought tears to your eyes as you read it, as it did to mine as I wrote it, it is because it is the composite story of the millions of formerly owned pets who die each year in American and Canadian animal shelters. Anyone is welcome to distribute the essay for a noncommercial purpose, as long as it is properly attributed with the copyright notice. Please use it to help educate, on your websites, in newsletters, on animal shelter and vet office bulletin boards. Tell the public that the decision to add a pet to the family is an important one for life, that animals deserve our love and sensible care, that finding another appropriate home for your animal is your responsibility and any local humane society or animal welfare league can offer you good advice, and that all life is precious. Please do your part to stop the killing, and encourage adoption.

Chad, if you have your heart set on a red/white male, I know of one who might need a home soon, and, yes, there is the one Sara is talking about in South Florida.

If you are still considering a second dog, fostering would be a great way to interact with another dog in your home and get your dog used to a second dog as well. At least until you find your red/white boy!

thanx everyone, ill stay away from them then. would really prefer to have a puppy so we could be the ones to raise it. not sure if fostering would work here, wife would get attached to any dog quick and it would be hard to let go to its new home. if i came across a rescue like were looking for i would look more into it, but i will need alot of info b4 i foster, not just gonna blindly fill out a foster app.

They are pretty predominant in Florida, can't imagine any rescue having you "blindly" fill out an app. ??

www.siberrescue.com

Edited to note, good quality rescues actually are quite strict with their fostering. SHRF unfortunately had to turn down two foster homes this past week.

It's on the rare side to get really young puppies at a rescue, but it does happen. If you're heart is set on a red/white male puppy, try the Siberian Husky Club referral section:

Go to "Owning Siberians" ------>"Referral Directory"
