Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Oh, thats what a heart attack feels like Empty
PostSubject: Oh, thats what a heart attack feels like   Oh, thats what a heart attack feels like EmptyMon Nov 19, 2012 8:33 pm

So last week I had to go help my brother by following my father to drop an extra car off to him. I probably had 3 hours of driving ahead of me at least. I got home around 7pm and off course I'm sprinting to get ready before he shows up. Before going in the house I go to the side where a big branch fell from the storm and I check to make sure it didnt hit the house. I had to open the gate to get a good look. It didnt and I rush inside and let Amber out.

I had spoke to my father earlier and told him I would leave the door unlocked just come in when you get here.

While Amber is out I go up to take a shower. I hear a knock on the door and I run to the landing at the foyer and yell for him to come in. The door opens and its the woman who lives next door, great I was standing there in my boxers and a shirt. She says I dont mean to bother you but Amber is running free in the front yard. My heart, stopped.

In a panic I run downstairs to the door worried that she wouldnt come near the house with my neighbor there because shes so shy. I pretend like its the backyard and decide to just call her in. Suprisingly she ran right inside no issues on the first call!

What a close call. Im so glad she didnt get away. Shes gotten loose on accident a few times now and she has never shown an urge to run away. Im just thankful whewwwww!

I know how you feel, I had sorta the same thing happen with Maya. I opened the back door to let her in and she was no where inside. She got out from the back gate (it doesn't lock) so I started to freak out and called for her. She came running out of the tree's in my neighbors yard with the happiest look on her face. I opened the gate and she came running back in, I was so shocked. I thought for sure she'd run off and never come back.

I'm glad you got her back safely. Smile I've always been paranoid about my girls getting out. Now that its happened I'm even more so.

It's an aweful feeling! You just never know if that one time will be the last time you ever see your dog again. I'm glad she listened to you!
