Seasonal-shoe grabbing? Empty
PostSubject: Seasonal-shoe grabbing?    Seasonal-shoe grabbing? EmptySat Dec 22, 2012 4:15 pm

My husky has decided that since it's snowed he should grab my boot and wrap his legs around my foot... I have NO IDEA why he does this. I'm assuming he just wants to play and wants attention, and being that I'm 23 I don't so much mind-because if I fall I have less of a chance of getting hurt. Having said that, he sometimes does it to my friends when we're hiking off leash, and recently has begun doing it to our guests in my home. It would be one thing if it was just me, but I do NOT want him to hurt someone and this can be quite dangerous-both indoors and while hiking. I have tried over and over again to correct him- but he's basically giving me the finger. LOL. It's frustrating because he doesn't do it all the time! Does anyone else have this issue? Is this "Normal" for a husky? And what worked for you guys!? Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated! Smile

Sophie used to chew my shoes when she was a pup but I'd just tell her no and give her a toy to chew on instead. Kay will pounce and grab my feet wanting to play but I just ignore her and she stops. Sorry I'm not really much help, hopefully someone will chime in and give you some advice. Smile

It's so frustrating! He doesn't touch our shoes- unless they're on your feet! It's become a very big problem- esp with my aunt as she wears her shoes in our house Mad

I don't have any good advice unfortunately, but I know your pain, Luna has just recently started doing this as well. I'm hoping it's just part of the teenage phase and she will outgrow it, it is super annoying.

haha good look with the "outgrowing" it! I was hoping for that too... mine just turned three! LOL The thing is, when I do correct him he just doesn't get it- its just part of the game now lol. THANKFULLY he doesn't do this often! LOL

Lola loves my feet especially when I am wearing Uggs. I've been telling her no and redirecting to a toy. She is getting better.

I wish that worked with mine! It's like he's in his own little world and just tunes me out when he's in this prey-drive mode lol

That's how maya is when she's bullying another dog, It's so hard to get her to stop.

We had a break through this morning! Very Happy We were at the park playing off leash- just he and I this am and he started to try and grab my feet. I said ot ot NO. Firmly, and he stopped and put his head down, laid down next to me and sulked! So then I said yes! Good boy! Ok lets go, and we played again- I think he MIGHT be getting it! LOL Very Happy ... there's hope anyway right? haha
