Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

So last time milo went to the vet a couple weeks ago they guessed he might be around 14 weeks or so but as of today they looked at his teeth and said actually he prob is only 12 weeks old now and he is 24 lbs. NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS the poor boy has Hip Dysplasia already and has to have surgery to correct this before he gets to much bigger. I dont know if we have the funds for something like this but my Fiancee is strongly pushing for it I dont know what to do I think we are going to get a second opinion before i fork out alot of dough.

i would go for a second opinion but if he does have it i would do it as it would improve his life so much and it will be a HUGE issue as he gets older and not able to live a pain free life. im sure Eddy will chime in about that as i think Sioux has the same issue.

My understanding was that couldn't be properly diagnosed until a later age? With how much growing they do and all. That sucks though, Sioux has dysplasia and his hips pop while he walks. But our vet said not to do any worrying until he gets a little older or can't do the 12 mile hikes anymore. Not cheap, estimates between $3,000-$5,000 dollars. Maybe it's cheaper and easier to fix at such a young age? A second opinion would be on my list as well, except the ortho exams are $300+. Best of luck with that.

oh no!! i couldnt tell anything was wrong with him when i watched him for last week! he acted fine! definately get a second oppinion!! i will from now on after dealing w/ our vet after the 2nd surgery when they done exploratory surgery and there was nothing in there!!! but when it comes to dough....you can get care credit like we did!! if its the best thing for him then i would do it...google it and do all your research on how long he can go w/o surgery first and maybe try and save up some cash and then do it...he is still a baby! but he will also heal faster as a baby....good luck you guys!!
