| Hello everyone! I wasn't quite sure where to post this. But my mom & dad has an australian shepherd mix & she is about a year old now. My parents travel a lot & always take their dog with them. But every time they take her in the car, she always gets car-sick & vomits. My parents go on a lot of vacations & travel to their friend's house & take her with them everywhere, so this is becoming an issue for them & they don't like leaving her at home all the time. Is there any solutions to car-sickness? |

| I have the same issue with Baron. We have tried all manners of things to solve the problem and it seems none of them really work. I have a feeling that it's a form of motion sickness, and found out that his mother has the same exact issue. I was told (keep in mind I have not tried this) that Dramamine works if you plan on going on a long car trip. I'm really wary of giving Baron people medicine, and since we only go on short car trips, we just try to drive really slowly and take turns more carefully. I have a feeling he just psyches himself out over it though. When he lays down he doesn't get sick. I guess my best suggestion would be just to tire the pup out COMPLETELY before taking her somewhere. Best wishes! |

| Ginger can help with motion sickness in dogs just like it can for people. _________________ |

| One thing that I always had to do was either roll a window down or turn the AC on full blast with the vents on my girls' face. It also helped not to feed the dogs at least an hour before I went on a trip. For severe car sickness, I think the only thing you could possibly do is look into medicine.
There is nothing wrong with giving dogs human medicine; most dog and human medicines (not RX) are the same. You just have to look into dosage and mg's. |

| Keeping the windows open definitely helps. I have read that giving a piece of sugared candy before the ride helps calm their stomachs, but i am not certain if that works perfectly (i had an n=1 successful case). I also agree with the exercising really well before the ride. if they can hop in and lay down, they have an easier time than being jostled trying to keep balance while sitting or walking around. |

| We had a dog that was extremely car sick and never overcame it. We managed it by:
Stop feeding and watering 2 or 3 hours before a car trip Take towels along. he drooled excessively when he was feeling unwell. Towels were also handy when he lost it. comforting the dog helped a little with the anxiety part. Mostly it was motion sickness. Sometimes it helps if the dog is in a crate and cannot see the scenery flashing past.
No magic fixes. Try anything and keep what works. |

| This is so hard, my greyhound had this, he didn't always throw up, but he was so nervous. My girl greyhound would drool excessively. |
