Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi everyone! I joined this site because I had a few questions about my dog and this site looks like a great community.

My name is Carl and this is my dog Cow-Boy.Hello everyone! Hpim0710

Hello everyone! Hpim0610

My brother found him wandering around his neighborhood. After a month of searching for the owners he gave up and decided to give it to me since he didn't have time to take care of him.

It's been about a year since then. He's been very loyal and obedient. Hell, after 3 months I trusted him enough to go on walks without a leash. He ALWAYS come back when I call and it is very for me to set boundaries for him. He never goes after cats or other dogs unless I allow him.

Wich leads me to my first question. Based on looks do you guys think he's purebred? I've had many people tell me he was a bastard but 2 knowledgeable vets told me he could very well be a badly bred husky.

I have a hard time believing that he is purebred since his behavior is unlike any other huskies i've met before. Maybe you guys can enlighten me.

Thx!

Welcome to the forum! I'd agree with your vet and just say a poorly bred Husky.

Is his coat naturally that short?

Yes, that's his natural coat lenght. It's so sparce on his belly you can see the skin. He seems to have a good undercoat only close to the tail and around the neck.

He doesn't really like cold. At -10* he needs to move or he starts shivering.

Hmmm... I think I would also say that he's a poorly bred husky, although, that's definitely a really short coat.

I should post a video showing his general behavior around the house or during walks. I'm starting to believe I own the only low level energy Husky on the planet. He acts like a happy go Lucky labrador more than a willful husky.

Hi and welcome! Having a husky that can be off leash like that must feel great, and anyways weather he's poorly bred bred or not I'd love to see a video of your dog to go crazy over like the stalker that I am since he's absolutely stunning. Smile
