Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

When you leave your adult Husky at home, what size crate do you use? Just trying to look ahead.

There are already a lot of threads on this. This is one of the main ones that a lot of members have posted to: https://www.itsahuskything.com/t10634-what-size-crate-do-you-use

We got a really good deal on a 48" x 33" x 31" on Ebay which may seem like overkill (sometimes it looks rediculous when he's curled up) but it was the only one we could find that he could sit up in without having to bend his head down.

Sorry for not doing a search first, but I was traveling and kind of bored. But anyway, being a newbie Husky owner, I thought that some of the answers might have been "as big as possible" for during the day.

I also noticed that most of the crate dimensions in the other threads were in length, but some people replied with a taller crate size for an adult dog.

I have enough room at home and at work for whatever type of crate or enclosure that is needed, but is bigger always better in the case of a Husky?

With a bigger crate, he'll have lots of room to stretch out if he wants. When we bought ours we didn't look at the length at all, instead we went for the tallest we could get since Jasper is already out of standard at 25"

Here, believe it or not this is what we got:
petstreetmall.com/Large-Dog-Crate/4314/1719/
Its large 54" in height and we bought with a divider panel so we can adjust the size as Doppler grows. We have it for 4 years now and usually used by our Chansel but the main reason is for the lovely saint bernard we fostered in 2009 where he stayed with us for 4 months.

We never left Doppler alone yet as schedules didn't conflict but basically, you have to provide your husky a very spacious crate with bed for comfort.
