2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Hello all. Nikko's yearly checkup will be coming up in January and I was curious to see what you all thought about the yearly shots, rabies, etc. He was fully vaccinated with everything by the time of his check up last january. Should he get any shots this time around? I read a lot of conflicting views on it. Thanks!

Depending on Georgia law, the Rabies one will either be a one or three year vaccine and that one is required by law. As for the others, you can ask your vet about doing titter testing to check for immunity.

I personally do not believe in yearly vaccination. I loosely follow a protocol close to Dr. Jean Dodds limited vaccine schedule. The only shot I do is rabies because it is required by law; we do the three year, not the one year.

I've always had farm dogs until Kenzi and we didn't do yearly shots with them since they never came in contact with other dogs or places. We only kept our hunting dogs up on yearly because it's required to take them out of state. Kenzi I keep up on since she is out and about and exposed to many things.

I do rabies every 3 years since it's required by law, and after the initial puppy shots will do the distemper/parvo cocktail 3 weeks away from every other rabies shot (about every 6 years). I don't do lepto or lyme since there are more risks than benefits.
