| Yesterday, while wandering around the property and checking things out, I stopped at a wild black raspberry bush. And snacked a bit (makes it very difficult to weed these out of the borders ) Ami looked up with his "what about me look" so I gave him one. Bad move...now when we go by the wild ones and the planted 'Fall Gold', he very carefully sniffs the bush, identifies the perfectly ripe berries and very gently, NIBBLES the berry off the bush and eats it. We thought once youngest son left the house, we may actually get a bowl of yellow raspberries. Now we have another berry thief |

| LOLOL! How funny that Ami picked up on that so quickly. I was just in Michigan doing field work and was able to enjoy some wild black raspberries myself. So yummy! |

| I have a blackberry grove in the backyard I'm glad the dogs don't like. Growing up we had large grape vines that we had to fight the dogs and my horse for. _________________ |

| How to do you know which ones to eat? I always see berries and such and I never know if I should take the risk and eat them or not? |

| My old dog used to do that with our tomato plants in the backyard....it irritated my dad so much because he loves fresh veggies, and my airdale kept sneaking out and picking all the ripe ones... |

I know what raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries look like (and their foliage) just from growing up around them and I don't know of any non-edible look-a-likes. The honeysuckle has a round, smooth, very pretty red berry as does false nightshade - those I know NOT to eat and I recognize because I planted the honeysuckle and the false nightshade I researched - it was growing wild in my rhododendrons, is a vine with a very beautiful but tiny purple flower and deep yellow center. Then the berries come out and it is the most glorious shade of deep red...I use the Audubon Society field guides to help with identifying things (including the mushroom one but I'm not brave enough to eat a wild mushroom ) |

| Sierra loves when i go into the veggie garden, when i had broccoli last yr she knew she got the tops from it and would wait for me to pick it for her, i have a small fence up but they can get in but she never would.
