I've been told that its a 'flaw' for a husky to have a curled tail, and Nala's is almost curled in a perfect O most of the time but I'm curious as to why or how that is considered a 'flaw'? Of course in my eyes shes going to be perfect lol but does that mean that somewhere down the line she has Malamute, I don't know kind of talking out of my butt here I'm just a little confused..

The tail is an extension of the spine therefore a curled tail would not be as dynamic in a working dog as a straight tail (more streamline).

Lani (HuskyMom09) has gone into this in depth in various places around the forum. And I'm on my phone so I can't link to her explanation.

If you check out the thread about tails lifting up, she posted some info there. Smile

Oh okay! So for a working dog they shouldn't have a curled tail. Got it!

I'm sure there is more to it than that but huskies aren't supposed to have curly tails like that. Being on my phone I can't really dignore much more into it. Lol.

I really found this tail stuff interesting (including all of Lani's stuff) - my first Siberian, Sasha, used to carry her tail high (sort of 30° from vertical) and just the slightest curve. I was always disappointed it wasn't more curled, thought it was a fault. Then Ami has this enormous waterfall tail with a full curve that just touches his back. Thought it quite neat, and much more correct (except for all the hair - I could do with a bit less - though he is absolutely gorgeous in full running - his fur positively flows!)

Shows how much I know Razz

I may have to take another look at her tail because I'[m almost positive it curls pretty tight but I cant seem to remember what it looks like lol
