Oh his feet smell like death warmed over....so anything to even drown that out helps so much hahaha. Poor guy. I have two scentsy burners in my room along with the plug in warmer in my bathroom (he is currently residing in my walk in closet lol) so if we can get that smell gone that would be amazing

Wow the difference a little diaper rash ointment can do! There has a bit of scabbing/scaling going on now...so i called the vet to ask if it was ok if i gently scrubbed his feet and once he got on the phone he stated 'i thought you were calling to say he passed on'. Seriously? Have a little faith dude! So now the vet is shocked that we have come this far in a week, which is good i guess, but kind of upsetting since he wasn't expecting hercules to even live past a week. ugh. Anyways, today has been an awesome day with him. I didn't have to hand feed him, he ate dog food!!!! (soaked in broth of course haha) but hey, he is getting more nutrition so i'm happy! He has decided to sunbathe all day on the patio and got up to stretch his legs several times so i'm hoping the pain is going away and it doesn't hurt as bad when he walks....and not to be gross or anything, but today is the first day he has pooped since being here, its been 8 days now. Yay for progress! and thanks for all your input, please if you have any other suggestions on things to do let me know!

I am thrilled. From what I have read, part of the problem is secondary yeast infection - and diaper rash is often also a yeast infection...

Im almost never on the forum on the weekends but I jumped on just to check on your thread. I am SO happy to see he's feeling so much better. Ashleigh, fyi, it's basically a massive dose of zinc oxide, so it might even help mishka

Thanks for all your help Jen! Today is even better! He ate just dog food, no broth, turkey, chicken or anything added in! We let him out with Snow, our not so hyper husky and he even tried playing with her, so in the 9 days he's ben here we have had one heck of a turn around. I put his pills in a couple treats this morning and he stood there and wagged his tail while waiting for his food. It does seem to tire him out walking to the yard to potty, and after his bouncing around with snow he has been sleeping since so we will definitely have to take it slow to get his strength back. now if only those feet would smell better already

They will. I'm just so happy to hear about his turn around! I can imagine it's encouraging for you to see the light coming back into his eyes. it's odd how we forget some old school remedies for things, and how vets aren't really taught that type of thing anymore. Either way, I'm super happy to see him doing so much better! Those paws and legs looked so painful it definitely melted my heart! I hope you keep updating so if any future owners have this issue they can see what worked for him. I know he's not out of the woods yet, but the fact that he's eating is great! He was probably just in so much pain he didn't want much of anything.
