Hey guys, new here.
I bought my beautiful new puppy Nyx 3 weeks ago and it has all been great.
There has been one thing on my mind though. She was advertised as a Siberian Husky, despite not looking much like one to me. Some have since asked if she was a husky without prompting making me confused as I never really believed she was one. I've been through lists of dog breeds and have not been able to find one she resembles except the odd collie, mostly black Huskies and the very unlikely Karelian Bear Dog. I'm starting to thing she is a mix breed. I'd love to know what breed she is and would be really grateful if you could help me find it out. She's 10 weeks in the latest picture. I would say, absolutely, she is a mixed breed dog.

I agree with Jeff, she is an adorable mix of something cute! Were you by chance able to see her parents? I'm not an expert at guessing breeds...but it looks like she may have a little border collie in her.

Yep, my thoughts too. Another herding dog/Husky mix, just like the other thread from yesterday but here with much more deviation from a pure Husky look.

What makes you guys say mix? Is it the coloring?

Yes, they are getting more common than they used to be. I like her little blaze.

Coloring yes--very uncommon predominance of one solid color plus chest and feet patches. Ear set--distance between ears. Shape of head--dramatically triangular head on. Length of muzzle relative to head size. Eye set--shape and spacing.

Can't really see the angle of neck and chest but it looks very Border Collie like to me.

Although she sorta looks like a black Mechta, but at the same time, Mechta can very easily be mistaken for a mix considering her deviation from the norm these days.

A few have said that but she has a very narrow mouth so I thought maybe Karelian Bear Dog which I heard described as a thinner Akita, but some have said there very rare. Here's a picture of one.

I don't think that's her littermate honestly, that puppy looks about 3 weeks old in that pic.

They look completely unrelated.

This was the one that was supposed to be taken at the same time of my pup. I didn't think they were littermates either

They could be littermates..We rescued a litter of puppies a few months ago and none of them looked alike and there is a possibility that those two particular pups could even have different fathers....but definitely not purebred husky.

there is a chance, but the supposed littermate kind of puts a huge red flag on it. I've never personally seen a pure black one, so I have no experience with them....and like i said, i am by no means an expert at this! It could be fun to do the DNA profile to see what it says though! Or maybe get ahold of your breeder and ask for pictures of mom and dad (maybe some of mom with your puppy or something) if you want to be certain.

Either way, she is gorgeous!

Adam, I went through the same thing with Loki. I was told I was buying a pure bred Husky and came here to ask the same questions. I eventually got a DNA test done to confirm I was misled. Loki is still 75% Husky, but not a pure bred. None of the litter mates look a like. It wasn't until they got a little older that we could really see the difference between them. You will find you will love her as she is, and I'm sure she will fit perfect with your family. She is such a cute little girl!
