Hello, I know it's been a while, but when I thought of who to talk to you, I thought of all you guys!

Timber has had a few small wounds on his chin for 2-3 weeks now. I think maybe puncture wounds, but not sure- he can play pretty rough sometimes and he takes it as well as gets it good.

I have been putting Vetericyn Plus Hydrogel on it a few times a day and it heals pretty good, but every time I took him to the dog park, it would re-open, bleed again and blood would get on the other dogs and on his legs, etc. so, I haven't taken him to the dog park in about a week, it's looking good. then on saturday, him and my nephew were running around and they accidently collided and Timber face planted him and the scab ripped off and it bled a lot for how small it was, so we're back to square one. yesterday it was looking pretty good, but I didn't want to chance taking him to the dog park and opening the wound again, so I didn't. this am, when I checked it, it looked worse, like he had bumped it on something in the night and it had been bleeding again.

It's not a terrible wound, and it's not infected, but he's had it for like 3 weeks now and I don't know how to keep it protected while it heals. it's literally right under his mouth, on his chin, so he could rub it on toys or anything when he's playing. I can't put a bandage there
!!
I tried liquid bandage, but you need like 3 coats of that stuff and he did not like it !! he flipped out and we barely got one coat on - it stinks, so I'm sure he didn't want that near his nose.

any idea on how to protect it?

Help!!!

A cone or maybe get a nylon muzzle, build in a little padding to the bottom of it and put it on him? The nylon muzzles still let them get drinks and use their mouth, just limits how open they can open their mouths. It would help cover the wound and if you put a little padding on the bottom of the muzzle you can put a little medicine on it and hopefully it will serve as a buffer to protect it from being scraped off again.
