Eye staining/ crusting Empty

We have an otherwise healthy 16+ year old female husky. She has stains on both eyes that seem to almost crust over next to the inner corners. Can someone tell me a home remedy?

Has she always had a propensity for staining or is it something that has just come up? My boy has allergies so we will have some tear staining in spring and when the allergens are high. A little colloidal silver on a cloth will remove some of the staining from the fur. If the crusting and staining has been around for a while and isn't just seasonal then you should probably have her checked to make sure that she doesn't have an eye infection or over production of yeast in the eye area.

It has only been over the past year. Her last vet check 6 months ago she had it and the vet said it was " normal". It seems almost like it is scabbing over. I thought it was due to the extreme cold but I will see if it clears up now that the weather is better. It doesn't seem to bother her.

My husky mix has the staining, tho not so much the crusting, and as far as I know she has almost always been this way, and has no known allergies, since that is her only symptom. I have read that some huskies have this, similar to the small breeds that have the staining, and it is food related. I really just ignore it since she is physically healthy and it doesn't bother her, and again since she has no other symptoms. You could look for the tear staining wipes or creams that they make for the little dogs and see if that cleans her up. Smile
