| Hello everyone, I am new here , I have a husky she is 10 months and her name is Luna. Although I love her very much, I have noticed that she tends to bite her leash a lot. Today I took her to a park and for about 30 minutes I let her run as much as she wanted to. But when I had decided to leave she started to bite her leash and my arm a bit. I am starting to worry that she will will grow up and she will turn aggressive. Does anyone here have any advice as to what to do in order to prevent her from becoming aggressive? |

| Hi Darknight!! Luna's a real beauty - and I bet she know that too, right??
Very few Huskies become aggressive and then they seldom do without a really good reason. I'm going to make a guess here and say that when she "bites your arms" she doesn't do any real damage (excuse a couple of us older folks who have very thin skins and *everything* does damage!) I'm going to hazard that she's just telling you that she isn't ready to go yet - she wants to play and run more!! Then it's up to you to "convince" her that it's really time to leave. Depending on the layout where you are, you might just want to "leave her" in the dog park and pretend you're walking to the car. That'll get most dogs attention.
30 minutes isn't a lot of time for a Husky to run and get it all out of their system. I have a male who'd run for hours (and on occasion he has) and he's still not ready to come in!
On the other comment about biting the leash - I have three dogs here and one of them will bite through a normal leash in a heartbeat!! Meaning I have a loose dog to run down, watch that since you're probably in a worse neighborhood than I am - I can have a loose dog and not have to worry about cars, etc - you probably can't. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |
