Or, at least, the first he's actually taken his nose off the ground to notice.

I really need to start taking my camera, even on our short walks. Coming up to a tree he caught the eye of a massive squirrel, who proceeded to run up the tree. Aevyn didn't bark or howl, but he pulled a bit to get a closer look...

Only to have a pine cone thrown at him. Squirrels in my area have attitude! Bombs away~

Not exactly the best way to start out his rep as a hunter. Squirrel 1, Aevyn 0.

I'm sure he's going to have nightmares of bomb-throwing squirrels for a while now. Silly thing had good aim, too!

Maybe its better this way. I can only imagine what sort of ideas he'll have once he realizes he's just a wee bit larger and scarier then they are. xD

Rofl, Len, that comic explains it perfectly. Only it was a very distressed looking Aevyn. It should be noted though, Im going to certainly be watching where I'm going. I dont want to be next.

I think lucky for me Aevyn doesn't notice wildlife too much. Theres a path outside my apartment (a huuuuge path at that, I still haven't seen it all) where we've seen deer - he doesn't notice them at all. And quite often there will be chipmunks only a few feet from me, he still wont notice.

Maybe somethings wrong with his nose. lol

Of course a Husky's nose works better then ours but they are more incline to be sight hunter.

Biko seems to have a more powerful nose then Adobo but then doesn't know what the heck he is smelling, and Adobo more often then not ignores scents but if she sees the prey then the hunt is on.

Aevyn just always seems too distracted to really even see things, or just doesn't care. I'd worry that his sight wasn't all that great, but he vet has told me he's perfect.

There can be birds right in front of him and often he'll ignore it. Even my cats who get right in his face he'll usually leave be.

Can't possibly be normal for him to be so calm about other wildlife and creatures, can it? : /

I thought this was a topic about a husky getting a squirrel so I was going to add our story. Cali got her first one today, the squirrel was a ways up the road and instead of running up a tree, he kept running and then did circles and she caught him today.

Was it a red squirrel that bombed Aevyn? I know when I was in school in Maine, the red squirrels were much more vicious and had attitude than the grays.

Well this one was a what I thought was brown...but maybe red if its grey or red. Normally they are smart enough to climb..but not this one...lol. The greatest part was Cali thought she was in trouble for it..walked over clapping and she lowered her head and ears like...."sorry daddy".

In my opinion all squirrels are dumb...how many try to dart across the road in front of a car? As for the thinking she was in trouble...we've got that too only usually the tail is tucked too. Hope you didn't have too much of a mess to clean up.

No ...NOTHING besides she looked like she had lipstick on...lol. She only threw it around like a rag doll then a few puncture woods, but she treats it like her chew toys and just find the squicker- apperently couldn't find it and gave up.

We have an electric line that goes over our backyard and the squirrels run from pole to pole. The dogs know it and every morning they run to the poles to see if they spot any. It's funny to watch them run back and forth when one is running across the line. Heck they think they can catch the birds that fly over the house also....lol
