Hi my name is Patrick and my gf and I own 1 beautiful unaltered male husky named Max and we recently picked up what was thought to be a husky/malamute mix but after having him for about 2 weeks already and noticing his mannerisms and what not we believe that he is a full blooded wolf or strong wolf mix. We love him just the same either way.

Welcome Patrick! I saw the picks on the other post, gorgeous dogs but I honestly don't see much wolf. Also, not meaning to preach, but as a person that does husky rescue I hope you are planning to get them fixed. It really make for a healthier animal and avoids unwanted puppies.

well Duke is fixed already and as for max we may breed him in the future so we are holding off on that for now. He doesn't run off very often and when he does we are usually hot on his tail and he doesn't get very far away from home. We live out in the country with very few neighbors.

If you breed him do you have homes for the puppies? It is ultimately your decision but I can assure you there are unwanted huskies both young and old dying every day in shelters.

Please read this post:
So you want to be a breeder?

If you have any doubts as to Max's lineage as being anything but purebred, that to me is the #1 reason you should have him fixed. Breeding cross breeds is just adding to the pet overpopulation for no good reason, IMHO. Please do your research and consider the pros and cons of bringing more puppies into this world when shelters are overrun, rescues are packed to the brim and more and more people are surrendering their dogs in these hard economic times. Sad

well before we bred we would assure that we had homes for the puppies and we would also get a full DNA test done to assure that he is purebred. We wont breed anything else.

Please reconsider. There are a ton of unwanted puppies already, and if you have homes for your potential pups - perhaps you can redirect those folks to puppies that are already homeless.

I'm gonna be honest, Max doesn't look purebred to me at all and even if he is purebred he does not conform to the standard.. dogs should only be bred if you are a show kennel or have a working line which you haven't said either apply to you, if you aren't breeding to standard and to improve the breed for which they are intended for, then there is no reason to breed. There's so many huskies in shelters and rescues, even puppies, for people to choose from. Tori's link is especially something to read. It isn't just about having a purebred dog and homes for them. SO much goes into breeding, and before you even consider breeding, you need to have the dogs hips and eyes tested/scored and have the highest results.

Regardless, welcome to the forum Smile
