Growth on Luka's foot :( Empty
PostSubject: Growth on Luka's foot :(   Growth on Luka's foot :( EmptyFri Oct 07, 2011 5:02 pm

Many of us seem to be finding lumps or bumps on their dogs lately! Found a bump on Luka's foot about a week ago. Its right next to one of the pads on her foot. It looks like a pimple! Suspect It has grown just a tiny bit since last week. I'm really hoping its just a sebaceous cyst, but I don't like the fact that it is growing. Going to go to the vet next week to have it looked at. I really hope its something I can wait a while to get removed. If I get it removed now, she won't be able to dog scooter or bikejor for a while. Then again, if I get it removed in the winter, she won't be able to dog sled. Either way its bad timing! Its going to bother me all weekend, really wish I could have gotten an appointment sooner, but I'm in class today and will be doing animal training at the Shedd Aquarium all day tomorrow. I don't know how I'll focus tomorrow! I'll probably end up falling in the whale tank or doing something else stupid! Embarassed It doesn't seem to bother her. If she does need it removed, that also means I will have to drive home to WI to get it removed. Have not found a vet here that I would trust doing surgery on my dogs. Besides, they would probably make me vaccinate her, which I wouldn't. Don't want to make her immune system work any harder especially if its something bad.

Will update everyone after the appointment next week. Wish us luck!

I know how you feel Melissa. We recently found a lump on Mya also, but the vet said it was a sebaceous cyst.

Good luck! Luka will be just fine. You'll see Very Happy

My friend Taylor from another found something that sounds similar on her boy the other day

she came back from the vet today, and this was her result..he has a histiocytoma, a benign skin tumor which might regress in about 3 months. We have some steriod cream with an antibiotic to try and shrink it, but if it hasn't disappeared in 3 months he needs it surgically removed.

Thanks guys. I just don't like how it grew so quickly, but I know sebaceous cysts can grow fast. It doesn't look red or irritated at all. Just looks like a good sized white head pimple.

Got back from the vet, and apparently the lump on her foot is nothing to worry about. It's most likely a trichoma or adenoma. Vet didn't recommend removing it unless it starts to bother her. Because of its location on the bottom of her foot, it would be prone to infection if we removed it. Just have to watch and make sure its not bothering her. I'll probably get a second opinion from our old vet when we go home for Christmas just to be sure. So releaved!

Hmm, I don't know how I missed this thread altogether. I'm glad your vet thinks it's nothing to worry about. I'm doing the same with my girl, Faith. The vet I took her to here said the lump near her teat is nothing to worry about unless it gets bigger, but I want a second opinion...hopefully at our old vet when we go to FL in December.
