Perfering toilet over water bowl Empty
PostSubject: Perfering toilet over water bowl   Perfering toilet over water bowl EmptyTue Feb 28, 2012 4:51 pm

Cali has recently started to drink out of the toilet instead of her water bowl. This is a habit I have seen since she stayed at my sis in law's house while I was out for the weekend. Was wondering anyone had thoughts on this. I know the usual response is put the toilet seat down...well I try to do that everytime, but roommate/visitors might not. Also, she might push the seat up because she is crazy like that.

Thanks for your help on this.

Niko will lift the seat and lid up to drink out of the toilet. He usually only does it at night, or if our lab empties the water bowl and Niko decides that HE'S thirsty too. We now keep the bathroom door shut at night.

At nite I keep cali in the room with me with the door closed, she wanders the house and I just thought at first she was looking to see where the roommate is, well I was wrong..now if I don't here clicking nails on wood floor or dog tag jingling, I find out where she is, and today I caught her in the bathroom and she ran cause she knew she was in trouble.

We have to keep the bathroom doors closed because certain Huskies enjoy TPing the entire house otherwise...

I started a few days ago to put apple cider vinegar in her water and she drank it well. I started doing this with other non chemical flea and tick treatment recommended by Valerie

my first husky did this too! I would go out of his way to drink out of the toilet while his bowl was sitting right there full of perfectly fine water! Lol. And closing the door wasn't good enough for this boy. He scratched and clawed the heck out of the bathroom doors because he wanted IN!

Indy hasn't ever drank out of a toilet......yet. He just stares at it and walks away lol.

I don't think there is anyway to solve this issue unless you close the door. My dog's prefer toilet water over a bowl of water. I think because it stays cold and it's fresh with every flush lol
