2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Kennel in Austin , Texas?? Empty
PostSubject: Kennel in Austin , Texas??   Kennel in Austin , Texas?? EmptyMon Jun 25, 2012 10:51 pm

I am going to my brother's wedding in Austin and I need to kennel Mia, my aunt's pomeranian (Hazel), and my GF's pomeranian (Peanut, the mean one in the family pic in my scrapbook). Does anyone know of a good and inexpensive kennel in Austin, Texas?

We cannot keep the dogs in the hotel, because the hotel wants 20/hr and a minimum of 4 hours for dog sitting and they do not allow us to leave the dogs unattended in the rooms. It just is't going to be cost effective. Even though we are having the wedding, reception, and over half the guests are staying at their hotel and spending enough to buy a mid-sized Benz at their hotel.

Has anyone used Petsmart pet hotel before? are they okay?

I have used the Petsmart pet hotel and HATED IT. Kya was so stressed out when I picked her up, and she is very easy going.

I would find a good mom and pop one, those are always the best IMO, and make sure you have your shot records because 9 times outta 10, they will use it. I'm going to look up a few places for you on Angie's list and give you some of the reviews. Maybe that will help you!

http://www.dogtownaustin.com/ --This one had the best rating. No one gave it under an A on ANYTHING.

http://www.southpawsplayschool.com/index.php - This had one B, and that was on quality, but it could have been a freak incident?

http://www.bhvtexas.com/ (I know several people who have used this one for daycare and LOVE them, but it doesn't show a price! )

ETA: They also happen to be the first couple that pop up on google, so evidently they are popular, or have a spider networked! Razz

I only got it because I needed a doctor and was tired of googling and getting shitty ones. lol. It has actually proved to be invaluable! I use it for TONS of stuff!

Southpaws lost out because they are closed on Sundays and I cannot stay an extra day and the ceremony and reception is on Sat evening. Plus there was that one review about a pitbull biting a dog at Southpaw...Austin Dogtown and Barking Hound Village were on the top of my list due to location of near downtown, but they are pricier.

Austin Dogtown
Standard Crate Boarding
1st dog -- $35/night
Each add’l dog -- $30/ night
Private Room/Cage-free Boarding
1st dog -- $45/night
Each add’l dog -- $35/ night

Barking Hound Village
Private Suite: $35/night, $60 for 2 dogs, $10 for each additional dog in the same family
V.I.P. Suite: $45/night, $70 for 2 dogs, $10 for each additional dog in the same family

Gonna try to tour these two kennels on Thursday.

If anyone has any other recommendations, please post!! Thanks! =)
