Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Hey,
Any of you guys have any trouble with your huskies when its either their tea time or your tea time?
As soon as I pick up her bowl and fill it with biscuits she goes absolutely wild, barking, jumping spinning, nipping. I dont seem to be able to calm her down. Even putting her outside she headbutts the door and digs at it and goes mad.
When its time for our tea I have been having to put her in the kitchen where she cries the entire time. If i dont she takes running leaps and us, barking and jumping the entire time, no matter how many times she is told off and removed from the couch.
its becoming impossible to even drink tea around her at the moment.
Ideas?? |

| My puppy is literally going through the same exact thing. When he sees that we're picking up his food bowl to give him food, he goes absolutely nuts. He'll try to jump up on the counter, jump on me, whimper, whatever a husky does when going wild, he's done it. The minute I set his food down, he gets very food aggressive and will scarf it down. If we try to reach for it, he'll try to bite our hand's. We're still trying to figure out a solution for this, but we've also realized that a good way to handle it, is to hold the food above the puppy's head, until they are relaxed and calm, then slowly set the food down and if they run at it, just lift it up again.
When it comes to sitting on the couch with food and/or drink, my puppy will try get as close as he can to it, before he tries to grab it or lick it and run off. What I've found really helps, is if you point your finger right at the dog and yell "HEY" or "NO" in a loud, startling manner. The dog might be in a bit of shock and they should either jump off of the couch or think, "Whoops, maybe I shouldn't do that." |
